“We have been in Valencia for 13 years. During this time we have travelled, seen many other places and also have been back to Latvia. You always compare, wether you want it or not. There is an internal feeling that I would not change Valencia for any other place. It´s hard to define but it´s a set of things that is here in Valencia – city, climate, people, friends, squash, sea. That overall feeling”, tells Jānis Melderis.
We are grateful for the opportunity to live, work and travel freely, and above all – to have the freedom of making choices for our own lives. Moving to Valencia was one of the life changing decisions for us, and we are happy to call this beautiful Mediterranean city our home.
Linda Svilāne: “I think there is not a single scenario, not a single way to be. I would invite people to be more tolerant towards different views and ways of living.
We have not lost Latvianity. We will always be Latvians and we are not giving up on that. We have not become Spanish either. We feel good here as well as we feel good back in Latvia and traveling in other countries. I don´t want to draw a borderline between here and there, we and you.”
From 2017 till 2021 Latvia is celebrating a 100 year anniversary as a free and independent country. Throughout the celebrations the main message is delivered – “You are Latvia”, emphasizing that the main value of our country is the people, who through their daily work, form the present and together with the new generation lay the foundations for a better tomorrow. The project TUESI.LV (in Eng – You are Latvia) is one of Latvia´s centenary celebrations and tell stories about about young and inspiring Latvians in Latvia and around the world.
