Next Sunday 25th of September, in Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía is opening doors for a free access to its installations and as well three concerts free of charge.
On this day Les Arts will be open from 11am until 7pm, so that visitors can learn more about their most emblematic spaces: – The Main Hall, The Palm Tree Terraces which provide access to the Auditorium and the Balcony to the Sea, which offers views of the entire City of the Arts and Sciences.
The tour is only conditioned by the celebration of the different shows included in the offer of the day. Those interested can also enjoy the eighth floor cafeteria and the eleventh floor, both of which overlook the Turia Gardens.
In addition, The Ticket Office of Les Arts will be open on Sunday 25th, for all those who want more information or wish to purchase tickets for the second Preseason (which starts on October 1st ) at special prices. Titles included are “L’elisir d’amore”, by Donizetti, and “The Wild Cat” by Panella, as well as concerts such as: “Cantúria Cantada”, “Gloria e Imeneo” and “Noves veus”. The center is maintaining its rates on this selection of events for the general public, with tickets for opera in the Main Hall between 7 and 50 euros, concerts at the Auditorium from 10 to 20 euros, and shows at the Teatre Martin i Soler for 15 euros.
Free Concerts
In the music section, the Theater Martin i Soler holds two sessions, first at 11am and after at 4pm, a tribute show to the Valencian soprano Lucrezia Bori, muse of the 2016-2017 season of Les Arts. Actress and dancer Fatima Samles plays the diva on her journey through the different titles of the new season along with singing by artists of the Placido Domingo Centre. Excerpts from “La Traviata” such as the famous “Brindisi” and “Addio del passato” as well as arias from other operas including “Werther”, “L’elisir d’amore” and ” The Wild Cat” make up the program of this concert-show directed by Emilio Lopez.
In the Auditorium, at 7pm, musical director of Les Arts, Roberto Abbado, will be responsible for closing the Open Door Day with one more free concert. The Maestro from Milan will conduct The Orquestra of Valencia in a program with works including “Egmont Overture” by Beethoven, “Symphony No. 8” by Schubert and “Symphony No. 4” by Mendelssohn-Bartholdy.
How to acquire free tickets
Les Arts points out that it is essential to apply for a ticket to attend these shows. 70% of invitations will be distributed on their website lesarts.com starting at 10am on Thursday September 22nd. 30% of remaining entries will be available on Friday September 23rd from 10am at the box office. Invitations are limited to only two seats per user for one of three concerts in the online distribution as well as at the box office.
Transmission of “Otello” from the Royal Theatre in Madrid
On Saturday 24, at 8pm, Les Arts joins the celebrations of the bicentennial of the Royal Theatre with a live transmission from the Madrid coliseum of “Otello” by Verdi.
The Aula Magistral hosts this free screening of the opera that opened the 2016-2017 season in Madrid, with Gregory Kunde as “the Moor of Venice”, in the role he debuted in at the Palau de les Arts in 2013 in a production by Davide Livermore which was directed by Zubin Mehta.
George Petean (Iago) and Ermonela Jaho (Desdemona) accompany the American tenor in the cast of this “Otello”, with musical direction by Renato Palumbo and scenery by David Alden.
The distribution of tickets for the screening of “Otello” will take place the same day, the 24th, from 7pm, at the ticket office of Les Arts until full capacity of the room is reached.
